DELAWARE – FEBRUARY 10, 2025 – Acker’s inaugural U.S. auction of the 2025 season was nothing short of a royal affair, achieving a majestic $5.6 million in sales from just three distinguished and regal cellars. The extraordinary collections of “Three Kings” commanded global attention, drawing a diverse array of collectors to an online-only sale featuring world-class Burgundy, Bordeaux, Champagne and Italy’s finest.

For the first time in a very long time, Domaine de la Romanee Conti was notably absent from the Top Ten Lots. Burgundy still reigned supreme, with Domaine Leroy and d’Auvenay together commanding seventy percent of the list. Twelve bottles of 1998 Domaine Leroy Chambertin in its original wooden case claimed the top spot at $81,250. The second position resulted in a tie, with six bottles of 1996 H. Jayer Vosne Romanee Cros Parantoux and twelve bottles of 2002 Coche-Dury Corton Charlemagne each achieving $75,000. The only non-Burgundy to enter the King’s court was a case of 1978 G. Conterno Barolo Monfortino Riserva, securing fourth place at $52,500. Positions five through nine were dominated by d’Auvenay (Leroy), with two separate lots of three-bottle OWCs of 2007 Chevalier Montrachet and one lot of three bottles of 2011 Chevalier Montrachet, all realizing $50,000. Additionally, three bottles of 2013 d’Auvenay Batard Montrachet in OWC and three bottles of 2009 Chevalier Montrachet each reached $47,500. Rounding out the list was a six-bottle OWC of 1999 Domaine Leroy Romanee St. Vivant at $40,000.

"2025 is off to a thrilling start, and we’re just getting warmed up! The success of ‘Three Kings’ kicked off the year in spectacular fashion, with these three collections spanning an incredible range of fine wines," said Acker Chairman John Kapon. "Bidders were energetic and showed up online from all corners of the world to join this regal celebration. The American market continues to rule the fine wine market, but we’re already gearing up for what’s next: a Hong Kong auction on February 22 to ring in the Year of the Snake, followed by our epic La Paulée auction on March 6 & 8, featuring direct consignments from some of Burgundy’s top Domaines, more than a week’s worth of incredible wine events on both coasts in conjunction with La Paulée, and the final offering from the legendary cellar of Martine Saunier. I am saddened to inform everyone that Martine passed away on Sunday, just weeks after celebrating her 91st birthday. She was a true Grande Dame, and we look forward to celebrating her amazing life in the weeks leading up to her final auction on March 8th.”

Acker’s auction season continues with a Hong Kong sale on February 22, and the La Paulée auction in the US on March 6 & 8. Consignments are now being accepted for April auctions, with weekly web auction deadlines every Friday. For more information, email [email protected]..
