ZURICH – June 17, 2025 – Acker’s expansion into Europe reached a celebratory milestone with its inaugural live auction in Zurich on Saturday, June 14, realizing over US$5M in sales, firmly placing it among the most significant fine wine auctions ever held in Switzerland. The week brought Acker’s signature energy and spirit of conviviality to a series of pre-auction tastings and festive dinners in both Zurich and Geneva. Hundreds of wine lovers gathered to experience fine wine the Acker way, culminating in a spirited live sale with a packed room and global participation.

Selections from collectors across the European continent were joined by wines sourced directly from the cellars of some of France’s most esteemed producers, including Domaine Dagueneau, Domaine Fourrier, Domaine Dugat-Py, Domaine Duroché and Château de l’Étoile. Over 70% of eligible lots from these iconic domaines achieved New World Records, with forty-six all-time highs in total. Many of the producers traveled to Zurich for the celebration, introducing their wines to a broader audience and igniting a bidding frenzy. Collectors from Europe, Asia and the Americas participated both in the room and online, making Acker’s Swiss debut an unforgettable success. An impressive 40% of all bidders were new buyers, underscoring the new venture’s extended reach into the continent.

The Top Ten Lots showcased the inimitable Domaine de la Romanée-Conti alongside a significant swathe of Bordeaux, with the top spot going to six magnums of Château Pétrus in banded OWC, selling for CHF 37,500 (US$46,182). Tied for second place were six bottles of 2005 DRC La Tâche in OWC and a magnum of 1998 DRC Romanée-Conti, each achieving CHF 27,500 (US$33,867). Positions four through eight were also claimed by DRC, including six bottles of 2002 La Tâche in banded OWC and two bottles of 2006 Romanée-Conti each bringing in CHF 25,000 (US$30,788), while six bottles each of La Tâche 2001 and 2018 in OWC, and a 2008 banded OWC realized CHF 22,500 (US$27,709). Rounding out the Top Ten were a mix of DRC and Bordeaux consisting of a twelve-bottle OWC of 1982 Château Latour, two separate lots of twelve-bottle OWCs 1989 Château Haut-Brion, and six bottles in OWC 2016 La Tâche, each achieving CHF 21,250 (US$26,170).

Among the forty-six New World Records for the Domaine-direct producers were thirteen for Dagueneau, including two magnums of 2019 Pouilly Fumé Asteroide, which collected a whopping CHF 8,750 (US$10,776), and a 6-liter of 2012 Silex, which sold for CHF 2,500 (US$3,079). Fourrier set eight records including six bottles of 2019 Gevrey Chambertin Combe Aux Moines Vieilles Vignes and six bottles of 2018 Les Champeaux, which fetched CHF 2,000 (US$2,463) and CHF 1,625 (US$2,001) respectively. Dugat-Py and Duroché also set records, Dugat-Py with magnums of 2019 Mazoyères Chambertin and 2020 Mazis Chambertin both reaching CHF 1,375 (US$1,693), and Duroché with Jeroboams of 2019 Gevrey Chambertin Les Jeunes Rois and 2015 Chambertin Clos de Bèze, which sold for CHF 813 (US$1,001) and CHF 4,375 (US$5,388) respectively. Château de l’Étoile led with fourteen New World Records, including six bottles of 1964 Chardonnay l’Étoile for an all-time high of CHF 1,250 (US$1,539), and three 500ml bottles of 1947 Vin de Paille, which rang in at CHF 1,063 (US$1,309).

“After an incredible week in Hong Kong, I didn’t think we could top it—but Switzerland delivered!” declared Acker Chairman John Kapon. “From packed rooms and epic bottles to unforgettable dinners and hundreds of new collectors joining the fold, the excitement was undeniable. People experienced fine wine the way only Acker can deliver. Huge thanks to the Domaines who not only entrusted us with their wines, but also showed up to share in the moment. Next comes our Swiss internet sale, a blockbuster June U.S. auction featuring the Pacific Paradise Collection and $7 million of fine wine, and a July sale in Hong Kong to bring the fireworks to three continents. And of course, let’s not forget a return to Zurich on November 7, we can’t wait to come back this Fall.”

Acker's 2025 auction season continues with a U.S. sale on Wednesday and Thursday, June 25-26, and the last auction of the spring/summer season in Hong Kong on Friday, July 18. Consignments for fall auctions are now being accepted, with weekly web auction deadlines every Friday. For more information, please email [email protected].
