DELAWARE – May 27, 2024 – Acker’s May auction took place on Thursday evening, May 22, achieving $5 million in sales across more than one thousand lots. A direct consignment from celebrated Napa producer Sloan Estate set nine New World Records, while Burgundy led the charge in spirited bidding across the rest of the sale. Acker now looks ahead to a blockbuster June, kicking off with a two-day auction in Hong Kong on June 6–7, featuring direct consignments from Pierre Péters and Domaine du Comte Liger-Belair, followed by the company’s first-ever live auction in Switzerland on June 14, and a return to the U.S. for another significant sale on June 25.
Red and White Burgundy dominated the Top Ten Lots, with Domaine Leroy capturing the number one position with ten bottles of 1990 Richebourg in OWC ringing in at $52,500. Coche-Dury claimed the number two spot, six bottles of Corton Charlemagne achieving $32,500. The number three position resulted in a three-way tie, with six bottles of 1999 Rousseau Chambertin, three bottles 1999 Leflaive Montrachet, and three bottles of 1988 Leroy Musigny each garnering $30,000. Leroy and Domaine de la Romanee Conti accounted for the balance of the Top Ten including a single bottle of 2001 Leroy Musigny, a magnum of 1976 DRC Romanée Conti, and six bottles of 2017 DRC La Tache in banded OWC—all selling for $27,500—followed by two separate lots of six bottles of 2006 DRC La Tache and seven bottles of 1990 Leroy Romanée St. Vivant, each fetching $25,000.
Bidders seized the rare opportunity to acquire pristine verticals direct from Sloan Estate, resulting in nine New World Records. Large formats performed particularly well, with six magnums and two double magnums of the 2002 Sloan Proprietary Red each realizing $6,875. Double magnums of the 2004 vintage achieved $3,500, while 2007 and 2015 double magnums brought in $3,000 and $2,250, respectively. Parcel lots of twelve-bottle original wood cases from various vintages also drew attention, including the 2002s at $6,000 per case and the 2015s at $5,000.

We were also thrilled to see such strong results for Sloan Estate, setting nine New World Records and underscoring the global appetite for top-tier California wines. With three blockbuster auctions coming in June in Hong Kong, Zurich, and New York, we’re charging into summer at full speed!”
