Lot 1036: 3 bottles 2022 Comte Liger-Belair Vosne Romanee Aux Malconsorts in OWC
Lot 747: 12 bottles 1959 Chateau Mouton Rothschild
Lot 1014: 1 Jeroboam 2014 Pierre Peters Les Chetillons in OWC

Acker’s two-day auction in Hong Kong on Friday and Saturday, June 6 and 7, achieved HK$50 million in sales, inspired by Direct-from-Domaine consignments from Champagne Pierre Peters and Domaine du Comte Liger-Belair, and buoyed by big quantities of top Bordeaux spanning legendary ancient vintages to modern masters. The sale followed a week of exclusive events that welcomed Comte Louis-Michel Liger-Belair and Rodolphe Péters to Hong Kong for a series of dinners and tastings, leaving collectors’ taste buds both impressed and excited for the impending offers at the auction. New bottlings from Comte Liger-Belair and highly coveted Champagnes from Pierre Péters drew enthusiastic bidding, with 74 percent of eligible Comte Liger-Belair lots (non-mixed) and 91 percent of eligible Pierre Peters lots setting New World Records — twenty-four in total, underscoring the high demand for these iconic producers.

The Top Ten Lots reflected the strength of both Bordeaux and Direct-from-Domaine releases. The top lot of the sale was a barrel of 2023 Comte Liger-Belair Nuits-St-Georges, which soared to HK$2 million (US$254,777). Two lots of six magnums 2010 Chateau Pétrus tied for second place, each selling for HK$375,000 (US$47,771). Fourth place saw a four-way tie with twelve bottles of 1959 Château Mouton Rothschild, two separate twelve-bottle OWC lots of 1990 Pétrus, and a complete set 2022 Liger-Belair featuring one magnum and nineteen bottles, each bringing in HK$350,000 (US$44,586). Rounding out the Top Ten were twelve bottles of 1959 Château Latour at HK$325,000 (US$41,401), and a tie between another lot of 1959 Latour and twenty-four half bottles of 1961 Mouton, both fetching HK$300,000 (US$38,217).

Among the fourteen New World Records for Comte Liger-Belair were standouts from the exciting 2022 vintage, which introduced new plots in Grands Echezeaux, Vosne-Romanée Les Malconsorts, La Croix Rameau, and Aux Réas. Six bottles of 2022 Vosne-Romanée Aux Réas achieved HK$90,000 (US$11,465), while a magnum of 2022 Grands Echezeaux and three bottles of 2022 Vosne-Romanée Aux Malconsorts each realized HK$75,000 (US$9,554). Other selections reaching All-Time Highs included three magnums of 2021 Nuits St. Georges at HK$85,000 (US$10,828), six bottles of 2015 Vosne-Romanée Clos du Château at HK$80,000 (US$10,191), a magnum of 2012 Vosne-Romanée Aux Brulees at HK$75,000 (US$9,554), as well as three bottles of 2009 Les Suchots at HK$50,000 (US$6,369).

Pierre Peters’ ten New World Records spanned a wide range of cuvées and vintages, including six bottles of 2009 Les Chétillons Oenothèque, which achieved HK$45,000 (US$5,414), and six bottles of NV L’Étonnant Monsieur Victor MK.13 at HK$32,500 (US$4,140). Three magnums of 2012 Les Chétillons Réserve Familiale sold for HK$27,500 (US$3,503), while three magnums of 2017 Les Montjols and one jeroboam of 2014 Les Chétillons each realized HK$15,000 (US$1,911).

“It’s always a thrill to welcome Comte Louis-Michel Liger-Belair to Hong Kong and taste his delicious wines, and it was an honor to welcome his good friend Rodolphe Peters and his fantastic Champagnes here as well,” gushed Acker Chairman John Kapon. “Their incredibly limited, direct-from-cellar releases, not to mention all the great bottles they generously opened, ignited a renewed energy for the entire week, inspiring collectors’ palates all the way to the sales floor! This was a sale full of exceptional Bordeaux, which continues to be the foundation off which all of Asia builds their collections, with a stunning range spanning legendary old vintages and modern masters driving exceptional results across the board. We’re off to Zurich as we speak for our inaugural Swiss auction with an extraordinary week ahead, packed with exclusive events and a landmark sale featuring treasures from across Europe and direct consignments from some of France’s most celebrated producers. And with another great US auction later this month, this June feels like September!”

Acker's 2025 auction season continues with the inaugural Swiss auction on Saturday, June 14, a U.S. sale on Wednesday and Thursday, June 25-26, and the last auction of the spring/summer season in Hong Kong on Friday, July 18. Consignments for fall auctions are now being accepted, with weekly web auction deadlines every Friday. For more information, please email [email protected].
